Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Technician - Engines Materials and Processes III in the Greater Seattle Area. The role develops and runs custom materials testing and builds test fixtures for engines and propulsion projects.

You will perform metallurgical and quality analyses, establish standard lab methods, and maintain test equipment while safely handling hazardous systems and chemicals. The position requires hands-on skills, independence, and collaboration within a tight-knit team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years in material test labs, R&D materials/process development, or similar.
• Experience with mechanical testing load frames (tension, compression, flexure, fatigue, creep).
• Experience with basic hand tools and precision measurement devices (calipers, micrometers).
• Knowledge of lab safety, weights and measures, chemical hygiene, and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Develop novel testing capabilities for mechanical and environmental materials tests.
• Perform metallurgical and quality analysis per industry standards.
• Develop standard methods, training material, and documentation for lab processes.
• Maintain development equipment and facilities including test equipment and furnaces.
• Identify new equipment to expand development capability; work with hazardous materials safely.
