Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking a Lead Configurator / Integrator to own the physical architecture of engines and vehicle subsystems. You will turn schematics into buildable, serviceable assemblies, routing fluid lines, and designing mounting hardware for flight-ready layouts.

Ideal candidates bring a physics-based intuition for load paths and secondary structure, plus hands-on experience with hardware integration in aerospace or similarly constrained settings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field.
  • 5+ years in configuration design, systems integration, packaging, or layout for complex mechanical/fluid assemblies (aerospace preferred).
  • High-level proficiency in 3D CAD (NX preferred) with experience in large, multi-discipline assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Own configuration and packaging of engine assemblies and vehicle subsystems for optimal mass, volume, cost, and lead time.
  • Design and route fluid conductors and small-bore lines across engines and vehicle systems.
  • Design mounting hardware and brackets sized for flight loads with appropriate hand methods and FEA.
  • Drive layout decisions considering assembly sequence, technician access, tool clearance, and maintenance workflows.
  • Conduct rapid design exploration using sketches, parametric CAD, generative design, and AI tools.
  • Coordinate with propulsion, avionics, and mechanisms teams to resolve spatial conflicts.
  • Own master configuration models, envelope definitions, and integration drawings.
  • Evaluate packaging alternatives with trade-offs: mass, pressure drop, margin, assembly time, and cost.
  • Support integration and build activities to resolve issues and iterate layouts for manufacturability.
  • Mentor designers on best practices for configuration design and serviceability.
