Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services is seeking a Senior Equipment Analyst to act as the senior technical authority for reciprocating engines and compressors. The role involves advanced diagnostic work, data interpretation, and delivering practical recommendations to improve reliability and emissions compliance.

You will travel to customer sites, mentor junior analysts, and contribute to standardized reporting and training programs within Field Operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• 5–7 years as Engine Analyst with independent, expert-level analysis.
• Expert understanding of machinery components for compressors and engines.
• Advanced knowledge of compressor valve analysis.
• Experience with engine balancing and ultrasonic/FFT vibration analysis.
• Experience commissioning or tuning engines and AFR control systems.
• Experience portable emissions testing and corrective actions.
• Ability to train, mentor, and evaluate others, including formal instruction.
• Strong computer and software skills.
• Ability to work independently in a self-directed environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical resource for reciprocating engine and compressor analysis, providing guidance and escalation support for complex issues.
• Perform advanced equipment analysis using instrumentation, including condition analysis and performance evaluation.
• Travel to customer sites to collect data, interpret findings, and develop comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations.
• Participate in commissioning, start-up, tuning, and optimization of engines and AFR control systems.
• Conduct portable emissions testing and support corrective actions for non-attainment units.
• Review and approve analysis reports prior to customer submission.
• Develop and maintain standardized report-writing practices and technical documentation.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate the development of entry- and mid-level Analysts.
• Serve as a liaison between Engineering, Technical Support, Sales, and customers on complex accounts.
• Represent Cooper during high-visibility customer engagements and provide sound technical judgment in challenging field situations.
