Job summary

Bechtel seeks a Telecommunications Design Engineer to plan, develop, and review telecom cabling systems for Fab 62 in Chandler, AZ. You will produce drawings, prepare estimates, and coordinate with clients and internal teams.

Requires a bachelor’s degree and 10–13 years of experience; RCDD or PE preferred. This role is part-time telework with at least three days on-site weekly, offering growth within Bechtel’s ICT practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10–13 years of relevant experience.
• RCDD certification or Professional Engineer license is required.
• Knowledge of ICT-Telecommunication design, standards, and regulations (TIA, NFPA, BICSI).
• Experience with design deliverables: one-lines, drawings, BOMs, space plans, and pathing for inside/outside plant cabling.
• Prior experience on greenfield or brownfield projects in high-tech markets.

Project Overview

Fab 62 is an advanced semiconductor fabrication facility for Intel Corporation, located at Intel's Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona. As part of this work, the M&T team is responsible for delivering the engineering, procurement, and construction scope required to complete and finish-out a leading-edge chipmaking facility - a highly demanding environment where precision, cleanliness, schedule certainty, and coordination across thousands of craft and professional personnel are essential to success. The project supports the continued expansion of domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity, contributing to a more resilient technology supply chain while creating significant opportunity for the local Arizona workforce. Job Summary

In this role, you will plan, develop, and review telecommunication structured cabling systems design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure telecom systems designs comply with all regulations and standards. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-AM3

Major Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts independent Telecommunications work requiring judgment in theevaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Telecommunications engineeringsolutions, procedures, and criteria on projects or assignments insupport of a global business unit
• Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of telecommunication system components (Voice/Data) and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
• Develop and create coverage studies for horizontal cabling distance limitations including coordination with Architectural discipline and clients for optimum telecommunication space locations and sizes.
• Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to all stakeholders
• Develops conceptual designs for Telecommunications engineering projects or projects havingspecialized or unique requirements
• Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules
• Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performancedata
• Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval ofTelecommunications aspects of the work and scope changes
• Coordinates with internal disciplines and leadership as required on system scope development, Risks/impacts, interface needs, and budget trends
• Conducts or leads special studies of new Telecommunications engineering methods, materialsand techniques
• Mentors Telecommunications engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for theirprofessional development
• Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and trainingprograms as directed

Education and Experience Requirements

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills

• RCDD certification or Professional Engineer license required
• Knowledge of systems, equipment, applications of design methods, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project design deliverables within the ICT-Telecommunication discipline. ICT-Telecommunication discipline may include security systems, surveillance systems, ERRCS/DAS, and PAGA
• Knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to selection of design features within the ICT-Telecommunication discipline.
• Knowledge of developing ICT-Telecommunications designs including specifications, details, one-lines, schedules, riser diagrams, Bill of Materials, space plans, pathway designs to support inside and outside plant cabling infrastructure, fill calculations.
• Knowledge of TIA standards, BICSI publications, and NFPA codes.
• Knowledge in use of industry standard software (CAD, REVIT, Navisworks, REVU (BlueBeam), Microsoft Suites) is desirable.
• Prior experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in high-technology market segments.
