Job summary

Bechtel Global Corporation in Chandler, AZ, is seeking a Lead Piping Field Superintendent to direct piping construction on a major project. Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 10–13 years of relevant experience, or 14–17 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of piping construction, including installation sequencing, welding, NDE, testing, turnover, clean construction practices, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to lead large craft teams and superintendents in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong planning skills including workforce forecasting, installation packages, and schedule/cost awareness.

Project Overview:

Fab 62 is an advanced semiconductor fabrication facility for Intel Corporation, located at Intel's Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona. As part of this work, the M&T team is responsible for delivering the engineering, procurement, and construction scope required to complete and finish-out a leading-edge chipmaking facility - a highly demanding environment where precision, cleanliness, schedule certainty, and coordination across thousands of craft and professional personnel are essential to success. The project supports the continued expansion of domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity, contributing to a more resilient technology supply chain while creating significant opportunity for the local Arizona workforce. Job Summary:

Lead piping field execution on a large, complex construction project. You will direct subordinate superintendents, foremen, and craft teams supporting approximately 50 to 100 craft professionals or an assigned area/facility. You will coordinate work plans, staffing, schedules, materials, interfaces, safety, quality, and productivity to ensure piping work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. #LI-CL1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Lead piping construction execution for an assigned area or facility, including subordinate superintendents, foremen, and craft teams.
  • Plan and schedule daily and weekly work, assign installation work packages, review completed work, and monitor field productivity.
  • Determine workforce, material, tool, and equipment needs to support safe and efficient piping installation.
  • Review construction methods, schedules, progress reports, forecasts, and cost/schedule performance to support project execution commitments.
  • Coordinate piping interfaces with field engineering, design, quality, commissioning, subcontractors, other disciplines, and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure work is performed using current approved documents and in compliance with specifications, procedures, ES&H requirements, quality standards, and the Zero Accident Philosophy.
  • Resolve field execution, constructability, testing, and technical issues in coordination with engineering and project support teams.
  • Support team development through coaching, performance feedback, competency development, and continuous improvement.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience [OR] 14-17 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of piping construction, including installation sequencing, welding, NDE, testing, turnover, clean construction practices, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Proven ability to lead superintendents, foremen, and large craft teams in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong planning skills, including workforce forecasting, installation work packages, Level 4/Level 5 schedules, quantity reporting, and cost/schedule awareness.
  • Ability to resolve field, technical, constructability, quality, and commissioning issues with limited supervision.
  • Working knowledge of ES&H requirements, quality standards, field engineering processes, subcontract coordination, and approved work methods.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to build relationships, gain alignment, coach teams, and coordinate across disciplines and stakeholders.
