CyrusOne seeks a Senior Energy & Land Development Associate to partner with the Chief Development Officer and help drive growth across land strategy, power and energy, market intelligence, and development management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required as listed in the minimum qualifications.
  • 3-7 years of experience in strategy, consulting, project management, or real estate/energy development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience developing executive presentations, business cases, reporting packages, and strategic analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships across multiple levels of an organization.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in data centers, digital infrastructure, or related industries (preferred).
  • Experience supporting executive leadership teams or strategic initiatives (preferred).
  • Experience within private equity-backed or high-growth environments (preferred).
  • Financial modeling, underwriting, or investment analysis experience (preferred).
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred (additional note).

Job description

The Senior Energy & Land Development Associate serves as a strategic partner to the Chief Development Officer and supports the execution of CyrusOne's growth and development objectives. The role works across Land Strategy, Power & Energy, Market Intelligence, Development Management, Investments, Finance, Legal, Operations, Sales, and Design & Construction to help drive alignment, support executive decision-making, and advance key strategic initiatives. The Senior Associate plays a critical role in coordinating cross-functional efforts, analyzing business opportunities, developing executive-level materials, tracking organizational priorities, and supporting the execution of development projects and strategic initiatives. This position provides analytical, operational, and strategic support to the Development leadership team while helping ensure organizational priorities remain aligned with corporate growth objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning & Executive Support Support the Chief Development Officer and Development leadership team in executing strategic priorities and growth initiatives. Prepare executive presentations, business cases, capital committee materials, board presentations, and other leadership communications. Conduct market, financial, operational, and strategic analyses to support executive decision-making. Assist with annual planning, budgeting, forecasting, and organizational goal-setting activities. Support the development and tracking of key performance indicators, strategic objectives, and departmental priorities. Research industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities relevant to the Development organization.
  • Development Portfolio Management Maintain visibility into development activities across Land Strategy, Power & Energy, Development Management, and Market Intelligence functions. Track project milestones, key decisions, risks, dependencies, and development timelines. Support development pipeline reporting and portfolio reviews. Develop dashboards, reports, and performance metrics to support leadership decision-making. Identify opportunities to improve project visibility, reporting accuracy, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Cross-Functional Project Coordination Coordinate activities among Development, Power & Energy, Land Strategy, Investments, Finance, Legal, Operations, Sales, and Design & Construction teams. Support strategic initiatives and special projects on behalf of Development leadership. Facilitate collaboration across stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution of organizational objectives. Track action items, decisions, and follow-up activities arising from leadership meetings and strategic reviews. Assist in identifying and resolving issues that may impact project execution or organizational priorities.
  • Market Intelligence & Business Analysis Support market research, competitive intelligence, and development opportunity assessments. Assist with evaluating potential development opportunities, including commercial, operational, power, infrastructure, and market-related considerations. Support preliminary financial analysis, underwriting activities, and business case development. Maintain relevant reporting, databases, and market intelligence resources. Analyze data and prepare recommendations to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
  • Organizational Effectiveness & Communications Assist in establishing and maintaining operating rhythms for the Development organization, including leadership meetings, business reviews, and strategic planning sessions. Develop executive communications, presentations, and organizational updates. Support process improvement initiatives and organizational effectiveness efforts. Help ensure leadership priorities, decisions, and objectives are effectively communicated and tracked throughout the organization. Support change management and implementation activities associated with key strategic initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Engineering, Energy Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in strategy, consulting, project management, infrastructure development, real estate development, finance, investments, energy, or related fields.
