Job summary

Leoforce is seeking a Sr Energy Engineer in Washington, DC to deliver Existing Building Decarbonization projects. You’ll plan, coordinate, benchmark, and perform energy audits, retro-commissioning, and decarbonization concept development for commercial, institutional, and multi-family buildings.

The role requires 5+ years in the US, relevant engineering degrees, and professional credentials. You’ll work hybrid, onsite 2–3 days weekly, interacting with clients and teams to drive energy efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master of Science (M.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in the US/NA delivering energy efficiency and decarbonization projects for commercial, multi-family, institutional, and industrial buildings with proven success.
• Must meet eligibility to access government facilities.
• Thorough knowledge of common commercial HVAC systems; plumbing and electrical systems.
• Must have one of: PE, CEM, BEAP, BCxP/CCP (or equivalent).
• Experience with BEPS programs in DC, Montgomery County, MD; familiarity with BPS programs elsewhere.
• Familiarity with utility incentive programs in the DMV area and other regions.
• Well-connected in the real estate industry for outreach; strong communication on construction sites.
• Residency in the DC metro area; onsite work 2-3 days/week at client sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead building performance optimization including diagnostics, analytics, controls optimization, and retrofits for BEPS compliance.
• Lead energy modeling and life-cycle cost analyses to evaluate decarbonization strategies and ROI.
• Plan, manage, and execute energy engineering, auditing, retrofits, and related projects from scoping to closeout.
• Advise clients on BPS compliance strategies and coordinate with regulators to meet program requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and ensure adherence to ASHRAE standards.
