Job summary

Jensen Hughes is seeking a Senior Engineer in our Risk Management division to lead energetic materials and explosives risk projects. The role focuses on hazard analysis, regulatory compliance, and implementation of safety programs for defense, mining, and industrial clients.

Remote work is allowed; travel domestically and internationally is expected. The successful candidate will mentor junior staff, drive process improvements, and contribute to business development while applying advanced risk

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Explosives Engineering, or equivalent.
7+ years of experience in explosives risk management with leadership on PHA teams.
Deep expertise in NFPA 495, NFPA 660 and related standards; experience with PHA tools.
Proven incident investigation and facility design experience with energetic materials.
Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills; able to influence stakeholders.
Experience in high-security or proprietary environments.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

Lead Process Hazards Analysis for high-risk operations using qualitative and quantitative methods.
Oversee regulatory compliance audits and programs across PSM, ATF, DoD, EPA.
Direct D3 operational support, assess decontamination, disassembly, and demolition technologies.
Guide facility siting and design projects for civilian and military regulations.
Spearhead incident investigations and root cause analysis.
Establish explosive safety standards and conduct offsite consequence analysis.
Mentor staff, contribute to business development, and represent SMS in industry forums.
