Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Security Research Engineer to lead development of innovative endpoint protections. You will work with a diverse team across countries, designing defenses, extending visibility, and shipping robust production code in C/C++.

The role focuses on attacker techniques, malware analysis, and cross-platform parity, with mentorship and research publication expected.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience analyzing attacker TTPs and building detection methods.
• 6+ years of development experience in C, C++, and Python.
• Deep operating system internals knowledge, Windows focus preferred.
• In-depth reverse engineering and malware analysis experience.
• An adversarial instinct focused on resilience and evasion resistance.
• A collaborative mentality and eagerness to learn new platforms.
• Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development and optimization.
• Autonomous worker who communicates effectively in a distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Research emerging attacker techniques and translate them into protections.
• Extend endpoint visibility across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
• Develop production code in C/C++ that runs at scale on endpoints.
• Reverse engineer malware and study evasion techniques.
• Own efficacy end-to-end with telemetry review and mitigation planning.
• Extend protection parity across platforms and architectures.
• Collaborate across Elastic Security with cross-country teams.
• Help lead technical direction and mentorship for engineers.
• Publish and present research within Elastic Security Labs and at conferences.
