Job summary

Electronic Arts seeks an experienced Senior Encounter Designer for a 12-month hybrid role onsite at a California office. You will craft memorable combat encounters, implement them in UE5, and collaborate with Design leadership, Animation, Code, and Art to deliver a Star Wars title.

You’ll work with cutting-edge tools (UE4/5, Unity, Maya) and mentor teammates while shaping player moments across levels and missions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in games industry as a Scripter/Encounter/Level/Mission designer, shipping at least one title.
• Experience with text-based scripting, visual scripting, and/or programming languages.
• Strong understanding of engine tools and pipelines (UE4/UE5, Unity, Maya).
• Team player with collaboration across disciplines and departments.

Responsibilities

• Work with Design leadership, Design team, Animation, Code, and Art to bring the next Star Wars adventure to life.
• Create memorable, imaginative, and challenging Combat Encounters and own their technical implementation in UE5.
• Leverage the AI cast to create moments that are more than the sum of their parts.
• Solve technical and creative problems efficiently.
• Become an expert on encounter and AI systems for others to query.
• Track down logic issues and design effective solutions.
• Directly impact the player’s moment-to-moment experience.
