Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an Application Engineer to develop software for electrical utilities, enabling monitoring, optimization, and control of power networks and smart grid assets. You will design, test, and maintain applications across EMS, modeling, simulation, and data standards, contributing to a more reliable, intelligent grid.

The role requires a Master’s in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, strong software development experience, and knowledge of power system studies.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required.
• Strong software development, debugging, and performance tuning experience preferred.
• Solid knowledge of power system studies, modeling, and optimization.
• Proficiency with C#, C/C++, Java, Python or FORTRAN; Linux/Windows development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, review, and maintain power system software with reliability in mind.
• Build applications supporting EMS, load flow, state estimation, and simulators.
• Collaborate with team members to plan, develop, and meet defined criteria.
• Apply modeling, simulation, optimization, and numerical methods to development.
• Identify issues, schedule risks, and quality concerns; work to resolve them.
• Contribute to retrospectives and continuous improvement in development processes.
• Work across Linux and Windows environments using relevant languages and tools.
• Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and guidelines.
