Job summary

Transdev North America, Inc. is seeking an experienced Employment Litigation Attorney to serve as Employment Counsel, reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, Employment, Labor and Compliance. The role concentrates on employment law across all divisions and interfaces with HR and business leadership.

Annual salary ranges from $144,000 to $180,000 with standard corporate benefits. This role is based at the Lombard, IL HQ with travel throughout the US based on business needs (approximately 20%).

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in good standing.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible employment law experience.
• Significant California employment law experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day legal advice and practical guidance to Human Resources, operations leadership, and business partners on a broad range of employment law matters.
• Partner with HR and business leaders to evaluate legal risk and develop practical solutions to complex employee relations issues.
• Advise management on high-risk employment decisions and workplace concerns while balancing legal, operational, and business objectives.
• Serve as a trusted legal advisor supporting a large, multi-state and multi-site workforce across numerous jurisdictions.
• Provide guidance regarding federal, state, and local employment laws, with significant emphasis on California employment law compliance.
• Advise on wage and hour issues, meal and rest break requirements, pay transparency, pay reporting, disability accommodations, leaves of absence, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination matters.
• Monitor legal developments and provide proactive recommendations regarding changes in employment laws affecting company operations.
