Job summary

Kaplan North America is seeking a Senior Counsel, Employment Law to advise on labor and employment issues, draft and negotiate employment-related contracts, and support HR and operations nationwide. The role is fully remote with occasional travel and reports to the General Counsel/Associate General Counsel.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of relevant experience, a J.D., and strong drafting/negotiation skills, plus a track record in advising mid-to-large commercial clients and in-house teams on

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Member of a state Bar.
• At least 5 years practicing law, including 2+ years in a national law firm and/or in-house.
• Experience drafting and managing inbound/outbound commercial contracts (enterprise, customer, vendor, services).
• Experience advising on employment and labor laws for commercial clients.
• Excellent drafting, negotiating, and analytical skills.
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
• Entrepreneurial spirit in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Advise Kaplan North America on employment and labor law and related HR issues.
• Draft, negotiate, and review employment, independent contractor, and HR contracts.
• Support Operations and HR teams with legal guidance and risk assessment.
• Represent or coordinate with external counsel in regulatory actions or litigation as needed.
• Work in a fully remote capacity with occasional travel under 25%.
