Job summary

Experian is seeking an experienced Senior Employment Counsel in California to partner with HR and business leaders. This role combines deep employment law expertise with practical guidance in a hybrid setting, requiring 1 day per week at the North America Headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA.

You will advise on performance management, leaves, accommodations, investigations, and policy development, while shaping cross‑functional responses and compliance programs across North America.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active bar membership; California bar membership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise HR, Employee Relations, and business leaders on employment law matters including performance management, accommodations, leaves, and separations.
• Provide guidance on sensitive workplace matters and defensible, values-aligned decisions for leaders.
• Support the full employment lifecycle including recruiting, onboarding, background checks, and documentation.
• Oversee or partner on investigations and advise on strategy, findings, remediation, and record-building.
• Manage employment-related claims, agency charges, and litigation with outside counsel coordination.
• Draft and update employment policies, handbooks, and manager guidance to align with legal requirements.
