Job summary

Bank of America in Washington, DC seeks a senior employment lawyer to lead a team of employment lawyers and paralegals, providing strategic counsel on discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour matters, and managing a docket of litigation and agency matters.

The role partners with HR, Compliance and risk functions, directs outside counsel, and guides internal clients on complex employment laws and regulatory changes, with a focus on collaboration and thought leadership.

Qualifications

• Admitted to state bar in good standing
• Minimum of 15 years experience at a major law firm or corporate legal department
• Minimum 10 years knowledge of HR and employment law related matters
• Ability to present complex issues clearly to C-Suite executives
• Proven leadership and ability to manage multiple assignments

Responsibilities

• Provides employment and labor legal counsel to HR, Employee Relations, and line of business managers
• Directs outside counsel and coordinates work of paralegals and legal staff
• Reviews complex legal documents, interprets laws and regulations, and provides strategic advice
• Manages a docket of litigation, agency, and pre-litigation matters
• Oversees employment-related litigation activity and reporting to senior management
• Collaborates with compliance, risk, audit and other control functions on complex employment matters
• Interacts with Corporate Secretary, HR, Operations and other corporate functions to manage legal risk
