Job summary

FirstEnergy in Akron, OH is seeking an experienced HR Employee Relations Manager to lead employee relations strategy, investigations, and compliance across multiple states for a large electric utility.

You will partner with legal and HR teams, guide disciplinary actions, design training on harassment prevention and performance management, and drive data-driven improvements to morale and retention. Seven+ years in HR with union experience and a bachelor’s degree are required; master’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of progressive HR experience with emphasis on employee relations and compliance.
• Experience supporting unionized workforces and knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
• Experience across multiple states in HR compliance preferred.
• Demonstrated success leading workplace investigations and policy development.

Responsibilities

• Lead employee relations strategy and case management across multi-state operations.
• Investigate complaints, advise leaders, and ensure consistent corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain HR policies, processes, and compliance programs.
• Provide leadership support, coaching, and training on harassment prevention and performance management.
• Analyze HR metrics to identify gaps and drive improvements in morale and retention.
