Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an experienced engineer to plan and execute environmental and EMI/EMC test campaigns for liquid rocket engine controllers. You will own requirements flow-down, operate test systems, and drive root-cause resolution in a cross-functional environment with design, systems, and test labs.

The role emphasizes configuration control, test planning, data analysis, and clear reporting to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Aerospace, or related field.
  • 5+ years of hardware test experience in avionics/aerospace/defense or equivalent.
  • Experience planning, executing, and documenting environmental tests per MIL STD 810 and EMI/EMC MIL STD 461.
  • Involvement in at least one significant environmental test campaign (Acceptance/Qualification).
  • Familiarity with test levels and how to apply them in campaigns.
  • Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama) for V&V planning.
  • Experience operating test systems, including racks, data acquisition, and Linux-based test control.
  • Project management experience with schedules, risks, and status reporting.
  • Experience with RCA tools (5 Whys, Fault Tree, Fishbone) and structured investigations.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple configurations and interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, own, and execute environmental and EMI/EMC test campaigns for engine controllers.
  • Plan test content and environmental conditions (shock, vibration, thermal) with adequate margins.
  • Operate integrated test systems and coordinate with equipment owners.
  • Translate requirements into verification plans and test procedures.
  • Write test plans, procedures, and scripts with traceability from requirements to results.
  • Collect and analyze test data; produce clear reports for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Lead or participate in RCA efforts and drive issues to closure.
  • Track risks and maintain test schedules across campaigns.
  • Coordinate across design, systems, test labs, quality, and program management to align objectives.
  • Maintain configuration control of test articles, setups, and procedures.
