Job summary

The City of Fresno Police Department is seeking an Emergency Services Dispatcher III to manage urgent calls, dispatch services promptly, and train fellow dispatchers on our advanced Computer-Assisted Dispatch (CAD) system. You will provide elite customer service and thrive in high-pressure situations, with eight- to ten-hour shifts that may include weekends and holidays.

Swing and Night Shift pay adds $1.45 to $2.30 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of experience equivalent to Emergency Services Dispatcher II with City of Fresno.
• Equivalent experience may be defined as handling emergency calls and operating a multi-channel CAD system.

Responsibilities

• Provide lead direction and training to subordinate dispatchers.
• Receive and transmit routine and emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services.
• Investigate complaints and respond to citizen inquiries in complex situations.
• Advise callers on procedures when no emergency response is needed.
• Operate the CAD system and related equipment; transmit messages to field personnel.
• Evaluate calls and prepare detailed reports; maintain effective communication in a fast-paced environment.
