Job summary
Sauron Industries, Inc. in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Device Software Engineer to own the device platform that powers its home security systems.
You will design and implement on-device software running on embedded Linux, ensuring reliable video streaming from cameras and secure operation. Collaborating with hardware, perception/ML, backend, and mobile teams, you will shape architectures, drive features end-to-end, and improve observability, uptime, and latency to deliver real-time video
Qualifications
- 4+ years of device software for hardware products.
- Linux on embedded systems (Yocto or AOSP).
- C/C++ for Linux.
- Experience building real-time video pipelines on Linux (GStreamer/FFmpeg).
- Knowledge of RTSP/RTP and H.264/H.265.
- Software lifecycle practices: reviews, CI, testing, on-hardware validation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain embedded Linux platforms from BSP to application level.
- Define architectures for on-device software with cross-functional teams.
- Drive features end-to-end through design, implementation, validation, and production rollout.
- Root-cause issues using remote fleet diagnostics, telemetry, and local hardware test platforms; define logging and observability standards.
- Own the on-device video pipeline from RTSP camera ingest to on-device perception, local recording, and WebRTC viewing.
