Job summary

Verkada Inc. in San Mateo, CA is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer for the Camera Platform to own end-to-end development on edge devices using C++ and Golang.

You will collaborate with product, streaming, storage, and AI teams to deliver scalable, production-ready features for on-device platforms. The role requires 5+ years in systems software for constrained environments, strong OS and architecture knowledge, and onsite work at our San Mateo site.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in systems software development for performance- and resource-constrained environments.
• Proficient in C++ or Golang.
• 2+ years of experience building software for Linux-based platforms.
• Strong understanding of modern OS, computer architecture, and compute/memory/storage trade-offs.
• Familiarity with Bash scripting and Python for tooling and automation.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills; collaboration across teams.
• Willing to work onsite five days per week.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end development of on-device camera platform features in C++ and Golang.
• Collaborate with the product team to turn requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions.
• Partner with streaming, storage, and AI teams for edge-optimized features.
• Lead code reviews, guide debugging, and maintain high-quality codebase.
• Drive and coordinate regular OTA releases balancing speed and reliability.
