About the Team:

STR's Sensors Division is at the forefront of developing advanced signal processing algorithms and prototyping systems for next-generation radar and electronic warfare technologies. You will be a member of a dynamic team of research engineers, academic researchers, and industry partners working on practical solutions to RF sensing and counter-sensing challenges. We are dedicated to addressing some of the toughest problems faced by our security-focused clients.

About the Role:

As an Embedded Systems Software Design Engineer, you will work with a team to design, implement, and test embedded systems software for advanced real-time signal processing applications in sonar, radar, and electronic warfare (detection, protection, jamming, and spoofing).

What you will do:

• Understand capability requirements, brainstorm solutions, and evaluate options to inform decisions
• Develop and implement embedded systems software for real-time signal processing
• Travel to customer meetings, data collections, and experiments may be required

Who you are:

• Must be able to obtain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship required for support of special access programs
• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field
• 3-5+ years of relevant experience (BS: 5+ years, MS: 3+ years)
• Experience supporting development of embedded systems software for real-time signal processing
• Familiar with design methodologies and open architectures
• Experience with GNU/Linux toolchains and open source software
• Proficiency in C, C++, or similar languages for embedded programming
• Comfortable with Python and/or MATLAB
• Experience with firmware such as VHDL and/or Verilog
• Experience with software development tools, version control, and scripting
• Knowledge of software design patterns and best practices
• Understanding of software-hardware interfacing techniques
• Enthusiastic about learning new skills and developing software

Even Better:

• Active Secret or TS/SCI clearance
• Experience with Linux kernel modules and device driver development
• Knowledge of real-time multi-threaded embedded software on Linux
• Experience working with large multi-party codebases
• Experience in a laboratory environment with measurement equipment and data analysis
• Experience with hardware accelerators like GPUs, DSPs, FPGAs
• Experience with systems on a chip such as Xilinx MPSoC or RFSoC
• Experience applying machine learning techniques to software
• Experience with real-time signal processing algorithm optimization in MATLAB or Python
