Senior Engineer - Mechanical Component Design (Remote Eligible, U.S.)

Job Description

Summary: In this role, the Engineer will develop design specifications, create and mature design concepts, support procurement, generate drawings and documentation, and oversee testing. The position involves interfacing with Business Project Managers, Technical Project Engineers, Sourcing, equipment manufacturers, and engineering teams within GE and partner companies.

Responsibilities
  • Design activities supporting GE's fleet of BWRs, BWRX-300 SMR, and Gen-IV reactors including Natrium and ARC SFRs.
  • Focus on BWR equipment and internal components, Gen-IV reactor equipment, plant servicing equipment, and nuclear fuel design.
  • Perform mechanical component testing, ensure quality, cost, and schedule adherence.
  • Provide technical guidance, oversee project scheduling, mentor team members, and serve as a point-of-contact for stakeholders.
  • Assess design impact and risks, communicate with interfacing teams, operate within a matrixed environment.
  • Lead analysis, design, testing, and integration of mechanical components to meet project requirements.
  • Conduct engineering calculations, modeling, and prepare design reviews and reports.
  • Collaborate with sourcing and fabrication teams, and prepare invention disclosures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 8 years of mechanical component design experience.
Additional Information

The preferred work location is Wilmington, NC, but highly qualified remote candidates within the U.S. will be considered. The role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information, contingent on obtaining necessary authorization.

The salary range is $112K - $160K, with potential bonuses and benefits including healthcare, retirement plans, tuition assistance, and more. The application deadline is June 30, 2025.
