Job summary

V2X is seeking a Principal Embedded Systems Engineer (T05) in Indianapolis to lead the design, integration, and verification of secure, high-performance embedded systems for weapon release & safety applications. You will own architecture, requirements flowdown, and cross-functional collaboration across systems, software, and hardware domains.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in safety-critical embedded environments, strong leadership, and hands-on C/C++ development with RTOS. U.S.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in embedded systems, firmware or electronics for safety-critical military or aerospace applications.
• Expert in embedded architecture, requirements flowdown, and risk management for safety- or mission-critical systems.
• Hands-on embedded firmware/software development (C, C++, Python) and RTOS experience.
• Experience integrating firmware with hardware (CCA/PCB, FPGA, SoC) and with defense busses (MIL-STD-1760, EBR-1553, CAN).
• Strong technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional team collaboration.
• Experience with COTS platforms such as OpenVPX, VME, CMOSS and related optimization.
• Proven track record leading V&V, requirements traceability, and formal reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
• Familiarity with safety and certification standards (DO-178C, DO-254, MIL-STD-882E).
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
• Excellent communication across engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and integrate embedded electronics and real-time firmware/software for weapon carriage, release, and safety applications.
• Lead requirements flowdown, system-level integration, architecture definition, and full verification.
• Coordinate with systems, software, electrical and other engineering teams to deliver compliant embedded solutions.
• Mentor engineers; conduct peer/code/design reviews and drive technical rigor.
• Participate in architecture/design reviews and proposal/estimation activities.
• Contribute to best practices and roadmaps for embedded and weapon system engineering.
