V2X is hiring a senior-level Principal Embedded Systems Engineer to lead architecture, development, and integration of embedded electronics and real-time firmware/software for weapon carriage, release, and safety systems. This is a high-impact technical leadership role within the Embedded Solutions team.
What the role does:
- Lead design of embedded firmware/software and digital/analog electronics for safety‑critical military systems
- Architect embedded system solutions, drive requirements, interface definitions, hardware bring‑up, and full lifecycle V&V
- Work with COTS military platforms (OpenVPX, VME, CMOSS)
- Ensure compliance with DO‑178C, DO‑254, MIL‑STD‑882E, and other safety standards
- Mentor engineers and lead technical reviews (SRR/PDR/CDR)
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering and government/customer teams
Required background:
- Bachelor’s in EE/CE/SE or related; Master’s preferred
- 12+ years in embedded systems/firmware/electronics for safety‑critical aerospace/defense
- Strong in embedded architecture, RTOS/bare‑metal development, C/C++, Python
- Experience with FPGA/SoC, PCB/CCA design, integration, and requirements traceability
- Deep knowledge of safety‑critical compliance standards
- U.S. citizenship + ability to obtain DoD clearance
Preferred:
- DevOps for embedded (Git, CI/CD), model‑based design, embedded ML, FPGA signal processing
- Experience designing weapon release/safety electronics (airborne/ground platforms)
- Industry certifications, publications, or technical leadership recognition
