Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Customer Terminals Software on the Leo project in Redmond to own significant portions of the software architecture for customer terminals, including BSP, kernel, networking, device management, and applications.

You will collaborate with hardware, RF, ASIC, and software teams to drive cross-functional design decisions, ensuring security, reliability, and maintainability for high-volume satellite-connected devices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Own long-term software architecture for customer terminals, spanning BSP, kernel, networking stack, device management, and application layers.
• Partner with hardware, silicon, RF, antenna, networking, and product teams to drive hardware/software co-design decisions across SoC selection, RF integration, power management, thermal constraints, and satellite link optimization.
• Serve as the technical lead on cross-functional problems, decomposing complex issues into simple solutions.
• Define best practices for the software development lifecycle, drive quality metrics, code review standards, and operational excellence.
• Lead architecture and delivery of embedded software for high-volume consumer devices, ensuring robust connectivity, OTA updates, fleet observability, and lifecycle management.
