Job summary

Knightscope is seeking a Mid/Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our product development team and lead software system design for a wearable hardware program from prototype through production readiness. You will own the software scope, work with mechanical, electrical, systems and other software engineers in a fast-paced, gate-driven environment and help shape a first-of-its-kind platform.

Location is on-site at the Sunnyvale headquarters.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in CS/EE or related field.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience shipping software on hardware products.
• Hands-on with IMU or MEMS sensors.
• Real-time, low-latency data processing experience.
• Experience with Linux-based embedded systems or RTOS.
• Strong C/C++ proficiency.
• Experience with SPI/I2C/UART protocols.

Responsibilities

• Own software scope of a wearable hardware product including IMU integration and sensor fusion.
• Develop Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) algorithms using IMU motion data.
• Synchronize IMU data timestamps with video frame timestamps and optimize for real-time performance on target hardware (NVIDIA Jetson, ARM SoC).
• Design test procedures to evaluate stabilization quality under various motion conditions and measure latency/jitter.
