Job summary

Knightscope, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to own electrical design across hardware programs, leading system design, battery selection, and wire harnessing from prototyping through production readiness.

You will work cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and systems engineers in a fast-paced, gate-driven environment, owning the full electrical scope including CPU, GPU, compute modules, power distribution, and thermal management.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of product development experience with ownership of electromechanical hardware programs.
• Experience taking hardware from concept to production with minimal supervision.
• Experience across multiple form factors; wearables or body-worn is a plus.
• Experience designing electrical systems with compute modules, sensors, routers, and batteries.
• Familiarity with thermal design in compact enclosures and hands-on prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Drive electrical design and integration across hardware programs from concept to production.
• Evaluate components, sensors, and compute modules for multiple form factors.
• Assess CPU/GPU performance against video system requirements and contribute to compute-module architecture.
• Define power requirements and design a wiring harness for efficient power distribution.
• Select batteries based on reliability and safety for wearables where applicable.
• Troubleshoot at system, PCB, and component levels.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems teams to resolve cross-functional tradeoffs.
• Support test plans, fixtures, and validation activities for performance and reliability.
• Engage external partners/vendors as needed for design and manufacturing.
• Contribute to scalable product development processes and best practices.
