Job summary

Emerson, based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Rosemount software strategy for next‑gen magnetic and vortex flowmeters. You will direct global teams to deliver secure, reliable embedded software with modern engineering practices.

You will guide multi‑year plans, coordinate with customers and standards bodies, and mentor the Rosemont Flow software team while championing SDL, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development tools. This role requires up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, ABET-accredited preferred.
• Ten years of related software engineering experience with leadership in product development.
• Two years of leadership experience in an industrial/tech org.
• Familiarity with MISRA, version control, defect tracking, and modern req mgmt tooling (Jama, DOORS, Azure DevOps).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Up to 10% travel (domestic/international).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and organizational leadership to develop complex embedded software products and systems.
• Direct domestic and global teams to define software architecture and techniques for next-generation Rosemount meters, including sensor processing, communications, diagnostics, safety, and security considerations.
• Prepare multi-year plans, set goals, define cost/schedule requirements, and initiate innovative projects supporting product-line strategy.
• Interact with customers, vendors, and cross-functional groups to coordinate technical and administrative matters.
• Prepare technical proposals and represent Emerson to standards bodies.
• Administer policies, ensure accuracy/timeliness of software documentation, and write/approve requirements and specs.
• Provide technical consultation and coach the Rosemount Flow software team.
• Champion modern engineering practices—requirements mgmt, CI/CD, secure development lifecycle, and AI-assisted development tools.
