Job summary

Trident Systems seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineering Manager in Fairfax, VA. You will lead a team of embedded engineers, drive staffing, and provide technical leadership for real-time, hardware-integrated software development.

The role combines people management with hands-on architecture, design, development, and integration efforts across programs, including DoD/space customers. A senior, collaborative leader is essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
12+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR 10+ years for a Graduate degree.
Experience developing embedded and/or real-time software using C/C++, with embedded Linux/RTOS.
Strong hands-on software development and debugging experience.
Experience with hardware/software interfaces and system-level integration.
Demonstrated experience leading engineers or technical teams.
Ability to manage resources and priorities across multiple programs.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop embedded software engineers and leads.
Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain engineering talent.
Conduct performance management and career development.
Develop staffing plans and allocate resources across programs.
Support estimates, schedules, proposals, and development planning.
Provide technical leadership for embedded software architecture and integration.
Contribute to software development and debugging when needed.
Participate in reviews for requirements, architecture, design, and releases.
