Job summary

Leidos Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer in San Diego, CA to join a fast-paced engineering team prototyping ocean systems.

You will own embedded firmware and software across multiple disciplines, from concept to product demonstrations, with a focus on real-world problem solving and robust design. The role requires a strong background in Linux, embedded systems, and C, with experience in ROS 2, RTOS, and NVIDIA Jetson platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a STEM field is required.
• 5+ years of experience in development and integration for embedded platforms.
• Experience with Linux application software and kernel/OS (Yocto/Buildroot).
• Proficiency in C and software version control (Git, SVN).
• Familiarity with embedded communication protocols (SPI, RS-232, Ethernet) and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Identify embedded firmware and software requirements and evaluate design approaches.
• Architect and design maintainable embedded firmware and software platforms and build/test processes.
• Implement, test, integrate, and verify firmware and software to meet requirements.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation and interfaces (ICD, SRS).
• Communicate with the engineering team to coordinate development efforts and prioritize work.
