Job summary

LaunchPoint Electric Propulsion Solutions, Inc. in Goleta, CA is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer III to build the next generation of motor controller software. You will own modules end-to-end on a hands-on team, collaborating with electrical and systems engineers to advance a new platform.

The role centers on bare-metal real-time code, device drivers, interfaces, and DO-178C aligned development practices, with on-site work and occasional travel for support.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; 4+ years embedded software experience.
• Strong C programming on 32-bit MCUs with direct register access.
• Experience designing interrupt-driven, hard real-time software.
• Module ownership from specification through test on real hardware with minimal supervision.
• Hands-on lab skills with oscilloscopes and JTAG debuggers.
• Familiarity with high-reliability software practices such as coding standards and traceability.

Responsibilities

• Develop the new modular embedded software platform for motor controllers and generator control electronics.
• Own modules from design through implementation, bring-up, and verification.
• Design and implement bare-metal real-time control software and peripheral drivers.
• Contribute to software architecture, interfaces, and configuration strategy.
• Bring up controller hardware and machines using staged commissioning and support tuning.
• Maintain host/platform interfaces, docs, telemetry maps, and non-volatile storage.
• Follow development practices aligned with DO-178C including reviews and configuration management.
• Write requirements, specifications, and test procedures and verify work against them.
• Support environmental and EMI/EMC qualification testing, production, and field service.
