Job summary

Mach Industries in Huntington Beach, CA is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and optimize real-time autonomous defense software across the stack. You will work with embedded engineers, GNC specialists, and systems engineers to deliver reliable, secure mission software.

The role emphasizes ownership, fast iteration, and high-performance coding across C++, Rust, Python, and C. The position requires hands-on experience with large codebases and low-latency requirements, plus on-site

Qualifications

• Proficiency in C++, Rust, Python, or C with clean, tested code.
• Experience applying large (>10,000 line) projects from architecture to deployment.
• Strong understanding of real-time software development, embedded systems, and performance optimization.
• Ability to ship software in fast-paced, high-iteration environments.
• Full SDLC knowledge including design, development, deployment and support.
• Demonstrated ownership and autonomous work style.
• Experience with low-level hardware interfaces and real-time applications.
• On-site work in Huntington Beach, CA.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain software for autonomous defense platforms, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security.
• Design and implement efficient, well-tested code in C++, Rust, Python, or C for real-time systems.
• Architect end-to-end software solutions from firmware to mission software.
• Collaborate with embedded engineers, GNC specialists, and systems engineers for hardware/software integration.
• Optimize software for real-time execution on embedded platforms and edge computing.
• Apply secure coding practices to resist cyber threats and meet defense standards.
• Utilize DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing to streamline development.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and refine complex systems to meet reliability targets.
• Identify optimization opportunities and propose improvements for performance.
• Contribute to agile processes and communicate risks and blockers clearly.
