Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA, is seeking a Sr. Staff Embedded Software Engineer (Level 6) to join our Advanced Weapons team. This on-site role requires a Secret clearance and supports the SiAW program.

You will translate requirements into robust real-time embedded software for multicore SoC platforms, collaborate with hardware and firmware teams, and mentor junior engineers while shaping secure missile systems. Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• BS or higher with extensive EMBEDDED software background.
• Experience in system architecture including hardware and software partitioning.
• Strong DSP knowledge and real-time multicore development.
• Proficiency in C++ and experience with additional languages (Java, Python, C#).
• Experience with SPI, UART, ARINC, and UAI protocols.
• Full software life-cycle experience from design to maintenance.
• Secret clearance required for government work.

Responsibilities

• Translate system requirements into embedded software solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and debug real-time software for multicore platforms.
• Participate in all stages of the SDLC with agile practices.
• Verify software against performance targets and requirements.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and algorithm teams for integration.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce standards, and mentor junior engineers.
• Produce architectural artifacts and traceability documents.
