Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement, and verify software for advanced R&D equipment and complex machinery. You will write production‑quality, real‑time code and integrate it into testbeds and production tools with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include developing cross‑platform control software, validating with hardware‑in‑the‑loop setups, and enhancing tooling to speed development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with embedded, real‑time control systems.
• Experience with producing production quality software.
• Experience with modern software development lifecycle practices (CI/CD, git, testing).
• Proficiency with Python.
• Proficiency with at least one real‑time language (C++, Rust).

Responsibilities

• Develop control software across platforms including real‑time Linux, microcontrollers, and FPGAs.
• Verify embedded software with Hardware-in-the-loop testbeds and field activities.
• Improve software tooling to increase developer velocity and enable new capabilities.
