Job summary

System One in Huntsville, AL is hiring a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to build and support mission-critical embedded software/firmware for defense/aerospace systems. You’ll work hands-on across the full software lifecycle—design, coding, integration, testing, and debugging—on real-time embedded platforms in a fast-paced engineering environment.

You will design/develop embedded software (primarily C/C++) for real-time systems, integrate modules across subsystems, troubleshoot with lab tools,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (CS/CE/EE/SE/Math).
• 12+ years of embedded software experience (or 10+ with Master’s).
• Expert in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Real-time OS experience (VxWorks, Integrity, FreeRTOS).
• Experience with embedded processors (ARM Cortex, RISC-V).
• Strong problem-solving and ability to work independently and with others.
• Based in North Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville area.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded software (C/C++) for real-time systems.
• Integrate software modules across subsystems and networks.
• Troubleshoot/debug complex issues with embedded lab tools (JTAG, scopes).
• Work within Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, test automation practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and improve development workflows and tools.
