Job summary

Becton, Dickinson and Company is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to develop embedded software for medical devices across multiple portfolios. The role involves architecture, design, implementation, verification, and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has strong C/C++, RTOS expertise, and experience with IEC62304-like standards, and can mentor engineers in a global matrix environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software/engineering required.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience developing software for medical devices or other regulated, safety‑critical products.
• Experience in a controlled product lifecycle (requirements to release).
• Strong embedded software development in C/C++, RTOS, hardware interfaces.
• Knowledge of IEC62304 or equivalent Regulated software lifecycle standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded software for electro‑mechanical medical devices.
• Lead architecture, design, implementation, integration, and testing efforts.
• Translate requirements into testable software specifications and designs.
• Apply software development controls, risk management, and traceability.
• Create lifecycle deliverables: docs, code reviews, tests, risk evidence.
• Mentor engineers and communicate tradeoffs to stakeholders.
