Job summary

Nextern is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software/firmware for medical devices in Maple Grove, MN. You will work across multi-disciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers while ensuring documentation and quality system compliance.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years in embedded C/C++ environments, strong communication skills, and a track record of software architecture and design in regulated settings.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering and 5–10 years of related work experience.
• Proficient in C/C++ for embedded environments and strong software development practices.
• Experience with IEC 62304 and medical software lifecycle is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software solutions using C, C++, C#, and Python.
• Participate in reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code, and test artifacts.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive software process improvements.
• Coordinate software configuration and release for embedded systems.
