Job summary

Alten USA is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and validate embedded software across the full product lifecycle. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure high-reliability software and compliance with regulatory standards.

The role requires deep C expertise, 7+ years of experience, and familiarity with DO-178/IEC 61508. U.S. person status may be required for export control compliance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong knowledge of embedded microcontroller architectures and hardware interfaces.
• Experience with DO-178 or IEC 61508 guidelines.
• Advanced C programming skills.
• Experience using version control systems.
• Familiarity with ALM tools for requirements, traceability, verification and issue tracking.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve embedded software issues on hardware targets and simulators.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• MS Office proficiency.
• Ability to support long-term engineering programs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software across the product lifecycle.
• Create, review, and manage software requirements with traceability.
• Develop and maintain high-quality source code following standards.
• Debug and troubleshoot on hardware targets and simulations.
• Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, implement fixes.
• Use analysis tools to evaluate performance metrics (memory, timing, stack, coverage).
• Develop software verification strategies and test plans.
• Support validation activities and document verification results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet objectives.
• Prepare technical documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.
• Contribute to process improvements for quality and efficiency.
