Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in Moorpark, CA is seeking a Sr. Embedded Software Engineer to develop software for embedded devices and flight-test hardware. You will design, write, test, and debug system software for aircraft and robotic systems, and help transition software to production and certification.

You will work with Python, C/C++, and various IDEs, contribute to rapid prototyping, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver robust, efficient code within a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8–12 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient with Python, C, C++11, C++ STL and/or OpenCL.
• Knowledge of Visual Studio, Eclipse or similar IDE and defect tracking tools.
• Experience with RS-485, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB protocols.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Writes and tests software to support integration of sensors and embedded processors into aircraft or robotic systems.
• Designs and implements software for prototypes and products using AeroVironment tools and practices.
• Leads in writing system requirements, test plans, and validation testing; assists with hardware selection and memory/storage planning.
• Leads rapid prototyping and testing; estimates time and scope with management to fit timelines and budgets.
• Works with multi-disciplinary teams; supports transition of software to production and certification.
