Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to join our Summer Internship Program in the United States. You will work with experienced engineers to design, develop, and test embedded software for unmanned aerial and robotic systems, gaining hands‑on experience on software running on microcontrollers and processors used in flight systems.

You will contribute across the development lifecycle, from prototyping to testing, while learning industry best practices in embedded

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Basic knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with C, C++, or Python.
• Understanding of memory management, interrupts, or device drivers.
• Exposure to I2C, SPI, UART, or CAN protocols.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in writing and testing embedded software for autopilots, sensors, radios, and other onboard components.
• Help implement software in C/C++ for real-time and bare-metal systems using microcontrollers.
• Support integration of embedded software with hardware and debugging with lab tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive development.
• Participate in peer reviews, documentation, and configuration management.
• Contribute to lab and field testing of embedded systems for real-world scenarios.
• Assist in developing prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
