Job summary

Brightcore Energy is seeking a senior Edge Platform Engineer to own the on‑premise PC platform that runs our EDGE control algorithms at customer sites. You will define hardware/OS standards, manage data logging, and ensure secure, scalable deployments across multiple sites.

You will integrate with building management systems and partner with facilities teams while advancing rapid prototyping to production deployment with strong emphasis on security and reliability.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5–8+ years in embedded systems, industrial controls, edge computing, or industrial IoT with hands-on hardware responsibility.
• Deep experience with industrial PCs and Linux: OS configuration and hardening, networking, provisioning, and remote management.
• Working knowledge of BACnet and/or Modbus and experience integrating with building management or industrial control systems.
• Ability to implement modern security tooling for high-security environments.
• Strong software skills in Python and/or C/C++; containerization (Docker) and version control.

Responsibilities

• Select, configure, and harden the on-premise PC platform that runs the EDGE control algorithm at customer sites.
• Establish hardware and OS standards and fleet update strategy for scalable deployments.
• Own reliability of the edge platform in the field including watchdogs, failover, offline operation, and recovery.
• Own local data logging and edge compute architecture across deployments; design telemetry pipeline from sensors to monitoring platform.
• Integrate edge platform with building management systems using BACnet/Modbus.
• Work with customer IT/OT security teams to meet site security reviews and connectivity requirements.
• Move from prototypes to documented, repeatable deployment standards.
• Collaborate with engineers to implement optimization algorithms at the edge; support field commissioning.
