Job summary

Vigilant Engineering, Inc. is seeking a mid-to-senior embedded firmware engineer to design and implement software for custom embedded platforms, including drivers, bootloaders, and BSPs.

You will collaborate across hardware and software teams to ensure a robust system from concept to production. Candidates should have a BS in CS/EE, 7+ years of experience in firmware/embedded software, and strong skills in C/C++, Zephyr, embedded Linux, and Python scripting.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 7+ years professional experience as a Firmware Engineer or Embedded Software Engineer developing production software.
• Strong proficiency across multiple embedded development languages, including C/C++, Zephyr, embedded Linux and Windows OS and scripting languages such as Python, microPython.

Responsibilities

• Develop/modify BSP code including bootloaders, device drivers, kernel and device tree support.
• Authoring design documents and software/firmware test plans.
• Implement prototype software on prototype hardware with production intent.
• Perform embedded software bring-up on prototype hardware.
• Track test progress, bugs, and fixes and produce regular progress reports.
• Design, implement, debug, and characterize embedded systems with end-to-end ownership of software system design.
