Advantech USA is seeking a Software Engineer II focused on Embedded OS Lifecycle and BSP customization in Tustin, CA. You will drive BSP creation, board bring-up, and OS lifecycle management across Embedded Linux, Yocto, QNX, and Windows platforms.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on embedded software engineering experience.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills for low-level systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement low-level embedded software, device drivers, and BSPs in C/C++ across RTOS, Embedded Linux, Yocto, QNX, and Windows environments.
• Lead BSP customization, board bring-up, and hardware-software integration on target platforms.
• Manage software lifecycle for embedded Linux, Yocto, QNX, and Windows on target hardware including kernel configuration and image builds.
• Develop OS customization frameworks and tools to tailor builds per customer requirements.
• Translate customer requirements into software design specs using debugging tools like JTAG and logic analyzers.
• Define software engineering standards for design reviews, testing, and configuration management.
• Prepare test plans, analyze validation metrics, and document platform reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with Sales/BD for feasibility studies, architecture, bids, and customer training.
• Reproduce and resolve complex field escalations and customer defects.
