Job summary

VIAVI Solutions, a leader in network test and assurance, seeks an experienced embedded firmware engineer to design, develop, and debug firmware for advanced embedded systems. You will work closely with hardware engineers during board bring-up, implement device drivers and RTOS components, and participate in code reviews to deliver robust firmware.

The role requires strong C/C++ proficiency, RTOS experience, and a solid grasp of hardware debugging tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in embedded firmware development.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
• RTOS such as FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or similar.
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, USB.
• Knowledge of ARM and MIPS architectures.
• Hardware-software co-design and debugging with test equipment.
• Experience with Git.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, program, debug and modify firmware.
• Design, develop, and debug robust firmware for embedded systems in C/C++.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers during board bring-up and debugging phases.
• Implement and optimize device drivers and RTOS components.
• Conduct unit, integration, and system-level testing of firmware, including automated tests.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical expertise.
• Stay current with technologies and best practices in embedded systems.
