Job summary

Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a senior-level Embedded Software Engineer to join a multi-site team focused on autonomous flight systems. The role involves developing, integrating, and testing software for safety-critical aerospace applications while coordinating with hardware and program teams.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in embedded software, experience with ArduPilot/PX4, and a U.S. security clearance. Travel up to 25% is required, with opportunities for remote work based on role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of strong software development experience using C, C++, Java, Python, and Bash for embedded systems, automation, testing, and application development.
• Hands-on experience with sUAS and RC aircraft operations, integration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing and configuring autonomous flight systems using ArduPilot and/or PX4 flight controllers.
• Proficient with Git for source control, branching strategies, code reviews, and collaborative software development.
• Familiarity with MAVLink communication protocol, telemetry, and ground control stations.
• Understanding robotics, autonomous systems, flight software, sensor integration, and embedded system design.
• Proficient with Linux and Windows development environments
• Active Secret DoD security clearance
• 25% Travel
