Job summary

Crane Aerospace & Electronics seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Level III/IV) in Burbank, CA. You will contribute to embedded aerospace software with minimal supervision within IPT teams, focusing on DO-178 compliant design, development, and verification.

Key responsibilities include planning, estimation, and ensuring product requirements, safety, and performance meet strict aerospace standards, with emphasis on quality and reliability.

Qualifications

5 to 8+ years of relevant work experience.
BA or BS in an engineering discipline; Master’s or PhD preferred.
Expert knowledge of embedded software for aerospace per DO-178 guidelines.
Strong experience with C/C++ and Assembly language.
Experience with aerospace interfaces (ARINC429, RS232, CAN, AFDX).
Experience with software simulators and emulators; data load functions.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with IPTs to design, develop, and certify aerospace software.
Plan, estimate, and manage software activities to meet schedules and budgets.
Ensure compliance with DO-178 and company guidelines; ensure traceability.
Develop and review documentation: proposals, technical reports, procedures.
