Job summary

Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Level III or IV) at our Burbank, CA facility. The role involves researching, designing, and developing embedded aerospace software within IPT teams, following DO-178 guidelines and adhering to strict performance and cost targets.

You will contribute to product development, verification, and documentation, collaborating with engineering, operations, quality, and business disciplines to ensure quality and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• 5 to 8+ years of relevant work experience
• BA/BS Degree in an engineering discipline; Master's or PhD preferred
• Expert knowledge of embedded software for aerospace per DO-178 guidelines
• Strong experience with C/C++ and Assembly language
• Experience with aerospace interfaces (ARINC429, RS232, CAN, AFDX)
• Experience with software simulators/emulators and data load functionality
• Experience with Digital design and scripting (PERL, VB, ASP)
• Experience with requirements simulation (Matlab/Simulink or SCADE)
• Experience with structural coverage tools (CodeTest, LDRA)
• Expert knowledge of requirements management tools (DOORS)
• Expert knowledge of configuration management tools (Synergy, PVCS)

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with IPTs to meet performance and cost targets
• Ensure design quality and manufacturability
• Adhere to DO-178 guidelines for airborne software
• Support continuous process improvement (Kaizen, 5S)
• Produce design and development documentation for customer specs
• Plan, prioritize, and manage work to meet schedules and budgets
• Trace customer specifications to software code and verify results
• Provide cross-disciplinary IPT support and cross-functional communication
