Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Embedded Platform Software Engineer to join the Advanced Processing Architectures organization in Cedar Rapids. You will develop platform control software enabling secure, deterministic operation of advanced SoC devices and contribute across early-boot software, platform security, and hardware bring-up.

You will work with a team on validation, verification, and integration, collaborating with OS and BSP vendors, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience
• Embedded software development experience for complex SoCs
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and embedded systems design
• Experience developing low-level platform software such as board bring-up, HAL, diagnostics, and device drivers
• Experience developing or integrating software within RTOS environments
• Experience with secure boot, cryptographic validation, or trusted platform initialization (preferred)
• Experience integrating BSP components and working in CI/CD pipelines (preferred)
• Familiarity with DO-178B/C and SoC fundamentals (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded platform software for processor control, power-management, and ASIC state coordination
• Implement secure boot orchestration components and cryptographic validation routines
• Design and bring up low-level drivers, HAL layers, diagnostics, and platform initialization software
• Work in virtual development environments and FPGA prototypes before hardware availability
• Collaborate with BSP vendors and OS vendors to integrate RTOS components
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to coding standards and cross-functional integration
