Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Vehicle Intelligence Platform's OTA Updates team. You will define system requirements, drive software design and implementation, and lead technical efforts across the development lifecycle.

You will develop vehicle-side OTA software in C++, support testing and validation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, high-quality solutions in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development of embedded systems engineering.
• Strong proficiency in C++ programming.
• Experience with Jira for bug tracking.
• Experience with GitHub, Gerrit, or Bitbucket for source control.
• Experience with Jenkins for CI/CD.
• Experience in Agile environments (Scrum, SAFe, XP, or similar).
• Strong analytical and debugging skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of OTA vehicle software from requirements to deployment.
• Decompose system requirements into scalable software solutions.
• Develop software applications and services using C++.
• Lead software design activities and resolve defects.
• Perform design analysis for robust, high-quality solutions.
• Support system integration, verification, and bench testing.
• Diagnose and resolve complex software and vehicle integration issues.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Validation, and cross-functional teams.
• Drive process improvements and promote best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members.
