Job summary

Knowmadics is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to bridge custom hardware and application software. You will bring up embedded Linux on SoCs, configure bootloaders and device trees, and enable high-throughput data paths across PCIe, DMA, and memory interfaces.

You will collaborate with hardware, FPGA, RF, DSP, and software teams to turn hardware concepts into modular, mission-ready capabilities in a fast-moving R&D environment.

Qualifications

• Eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
• 5+ years of embedded software with custom hardware/SoCs.
• Strong C/C++ for embedded; Python/Bash scripting.
• Embedded Linux bring-up on ARM/SoC platforms.
• BSP with U-Boot, device trees, kernel config, Yocto or PetaLinux.
• Experience with memory-mapped hardware and Linux drivers.
• Knowledge of DMA, PCIe, AXI, interrupts, IPC, IOMMU/SMMU, caching.
• Read schematics; collaborate with hardware teams.
• Experience with FPGA/ASIC interfacing and SDR/radar sensing is a plus.
• Clear communicator across engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Bring up embedded Linux on SoCs and custom hardware platforms.
• Build and maintain BSPs including U-Boot, device trees, kernel config.
• Integrate FPGA fabric, ASICs, accelerators, PCIe devices, DMA engines.
• Create drivers, user-space interfaces, and hardware abstractions.
• Enable high-throughput data movement using DMA, PCIe, AXI, shared memory.
• Document interfaces and bring-up notes for teams.
• Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, RF, DSP, and software engineers.
• Use schematics, datasheets, timing diagrams to debug issues.
• Develop bare-metal or RTOS firmware as needed for microcontrollers.
• Support lab and field validation of cUAS and multi-sensor platforms.
• Maintain clear test plans and integration guides.
